    CALL FOR NOMINATIONS




    • The DHK Distinguished Mentor Award is an award to recognize an outstanding Korean Nursing faculty member and/or clinical practitioner who has made a significant contribution to mentoring for early career and new generation of nurses. This award was named in honor and memory of Duck-Hee Kang, PhD, RN, FAAN, President Emerita of GKNF-USA, who made indelible contributions to the mission of the Global Korean Nursing Foundation (GKNF)-USA through her generous mentoring of many young nurse scholars.



    Eligibility Criteria for a Nominee

    • Korean nurse educator, faculty, clinician, administrator or researcher who works in higher education, research institutions, or clinical settings.
    • Demonstrates excellence in mentoring junior nursing faculty and supervising nursing students in higher education (PhD, DNP), and/or early career and new generation of nurses to avance and shape their professional career.
    • Membership is not required to be nominated for this award. But the nominator must be currently a member of GKNF.



    Application

    Only electronic submissions by the nominator will be accepted. Nominations should be forwarded to the GKNF Award Committee chair, Jeongok Logan (jl3zj@virginia.edu) no later than April 1st, 2025.

    • A nominator must submit a recommendation letter addressing the following (not to exceed two pages):
    • Evidence of outstanding contributions to mentoring faculty or clinical practitioner as illustrated by mentee’s successes, scholarship and career advancement, and the impact of the mentee’s work.
    • Influence of the nominee over a period of time with particular reference to the breadth and depth of the mentoring.
    • Nominee’s curriculum vitae.



    • Award

      The award includes a $1,000 one-time stipend and a commemorative plaque which will be presented at the GKNF award ceremony. The awardee will give a presentation describing her/his philosophy and history of mentorship.
      All nominations and supporting materials will be held in confidence. The Awards committee sends the recommendation to the Executive committee for final selection.
