  • The Global Korean Nursing Foundation (GKNF) is a non-profit organization incorporated in the State of Illinois, in USA. It was established in 2003 on the occasion of 50th anniversary celebrating immigration of Korean nurses to the United States. The GKNF has offices in the USA (GKNF-USA) and in Korea (GKNF-Korea), each led by a president, and both presidents serve under one Chair of the Board of Directors.
    The GKNF is a lead organization advancing Korean nursing profession for global leadership. The mission of the GKNF is to support Korean nursing leaders for advancing nursing science


      • Post-doctoral fellows and APN fellows for their training in the USA institutions endorsed by the Foundation.
      • Faculty for pilot research projects
      • Korean students for studying in the schools in the USA.
      • Collaborative research and clinical projects between nursing scientists in Korea and abroad.


      Furthermore, in recent years, the GKNF hosted conferences for Korean nurses in New York (2010) and Chicago (2012), in collaboration with New York Korean Nurses Association and Chicago Korean Nurses Association, respectively. In 2013, the GKNF had the Global Health and Leadership Conference celebrating its 10th Anniversary in Seoul, Korea and provided a 2-day nurse leadership camp in Cheju Island as an additional program after the conference. It is also exciting to mention that the GKNF has been approved as a non-governmental organization (NGO) under Republic of Korea Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2014. As an NGO, the GKNF is committed to making significant contributions to advancing nursing profession and global health.
